Who We Are

Matthews & Johnson Dentistry is a dental practice of local families investing in the health of the local community.

Dr. Hank Matthews and Dr. Evan Johnson have known each other and have had a trusted relationship for decades. Dr. Johnson was mentored by Dr. Matthews in Bible study, college, and dental school.

When the time came to transition the practice, Dr. Matthews reached out to Dr. Johnson for an intentional partnership. Since they both share the same values on family and dentistry, patients can expect the same excellent care.

Meet the Doctors

Dr. Evan Johnson

Dr. Evan Johnson joined the practice of Dr. Hank Matthews, a longtime family friend and mentor, in July of 2021. After receiving his undergraduate degree from the University of Arkansas in 2016, Dr. Johnson attended Texas A&M College of Dentistry (formerly Baylor College of Dentistry) in Dallas, where he earned his DDS in 2021. During his time there, Dr. Johnson was elected by his peers to serve on the Honor Society, was appointed as a 3rd and 4th year clinic group leader, and led the Christian Medical and Dental Association. Upon graduation, Dr. Johnson was awarded for excellence in all aspects in dentistry with the Comprehensive Dentistry Program Award and an award from the American Equilibration Society.

Dr. Johnson is a member of the Arkansas Dental Association, the Academy of General Dentistry, and Spear Education—a continuing education program designed to help dentists pursue clinical excellence. He volunteers his time at the NWACC Dental Assisting Training Program, offering free dental services to the community and helping train future dental assistants.

Dr. Johnson is a native of Springdale and is happily married to Ashlyn. They have one son, Rhett, and are expecting a baby girl in the spring of 2024. The Johnsons have an energetic golden doodle named Baylor, are active at Fellowship Fayetteville, and enjoy time outdoors. In addition to spending time with his family and friends, you can find Dr. Johnson golfing, grilling, or at an Arkansas game!
